Can you talk a bit about the title of your book, The Hearts of Vikings?
There’s a passage in Helen Keller’s autobiography where she’s talking about being in a sailboat with some friends when suddenly the sky turns dark and the water gets choppy and the boat is being thrown around on huge waves and knocked around by the wind. It turns into a big storm. And she writes, “Our hearts beat fast, and our hands trembled with excitement, not fear; for we had the hearts of vikings, and we knew that our skipper was master of the situation.” I loved the fierce bravery of “vikings”. And the confidence and sense of adventure. I was thinking about how you grow a heart like that.
