Dan Chelotti gets to the heart of the matter in his review of Softcover for The Kenyon Review. He picked up on some of the things that we loved when reading Monica’s manuscript – in particular her ability to elevate the everyday and show it in an odd and beautiful light.
It’s been a bit slow here at Natural History Press, but our authors are writing gems you should definitely know about. Lesley Yalen published a chapbook with above/ground press – Partial List of Things I’m Responsible For. It’s $4, plus $1 for s/h. You can purchase by clicking here.
Not enough good things can be said about Rob McLennan, the editor of above/ground. He’s a true and enthusiastic supporter, and overall kind human.
An exciting few weeks for our favorite Monica will be capped off by a reading with Ginger Ko and Brett Fletcher Lauer on 2/28 at Mother in Atlanta, GA. There will be cupcakes, poems, and poets reading/eating.
In the mean time, check out Monica’s current reading picks and an interview with Kathleen Rooney for AWP.
Laura Carter’s thoughtful and fun take on Lesley Yalen’s The Hearts of Vikings is now up over at Yemassee Review.
