Dan Chelotti gets to the heart of the matter in his review of Softcover for The Kenyon Review. He picked up on some of the things that we loved when reading Monica’s manuscript – in particular her ability to elevate the everyday and show it in an odd and beautiful light.
Things are getting exciting at Natural History Press! Yesterday we received the proofs for Lesley Yalen’s The Hearts of Vikings. That means it won’t be too much longer before we’ve got the real thing on our hands. All obvious bias aside, this book is fantastic and we are really proud to have it as part of our catalog. Huge thanks to Lesley and to all of our supporters!
We are super excited to announce the forthcoming publication of our second title – Lesley Yalen’s The Hearts of Vikings. Lesley is a tremendous poet and we are honored to bring forth this book!
Here are some of her recent poems from Better magazine (you can hear her read these, too!) .
Enjoy! And stay tuned for more Natural History news!
Last month, Month of Big Hands finally made its way to us in some giant and heavy boxes. We are so super excited to have the physical books! They are gorgeous, and we’ve been getting some positive responses from folks who are getting their copies in the mail.
The online orders are steadily going out, as are the kickstarter “orders.” Some people are lucky enough to get an original Jon Link drawing on the back of their mailing envelopes. I don’t know how long he can keep that up, but it’s been great to see his work pop up and surprise people!
The awesome Andrew Morgan is doing a bunch of readings this summer – please check our author readings page for details.
It still feels like we have a lot of work to do, but it’s wonderful seeing Month of Big Hands be in the world. We hope you enjoy it!
